This "club" has tons of employees roaming around doing nothing. The front desk staff are excellent and the facilities are very pretty to look at, but you will have difficulty actually being able to use some of the equipment here. Life Time Lenexa has always been a luxury gym and used to be excellent, but I find myself paying more money for a worse experience and I can’t recommend it anymore. Of the plates that are available, many of them don’t even actually fit on some of the barbells. Several members have complained about the lack of plates and no new ones have been ordered, despite members being told that new ones were ordered months ago. The vinyl back pads for a few of the bench presses have literally been unattached to the actual benches, allowing them to be completely removed and placed on the floor. Since the new manager took over, it can take weeks or months for equipment to be fixed. Broken equipment was quickly noticed and fixed, and customer feedback was responded to quickly and effectively. The previous manager, Andre, did an excellent job of maintaining this club, and could frequently be seen actually on the floor, whether he was working or doing his own workouts. Some members are paying $130/month for equipment that can’t even be used because there aren’t enough plates. Several of the 45lb plates have spontaneously disappeared from the gym, and no new ones have been ordered despite membership prices continuing to rise. Group classes take over several racks and members will be kicked off of them for classes, even if the racks are not the ones reserved for classes ahead of time. Equipment is poorly maintained and does not get fixed quickly. Noticeable decrease in quality since new manager took over. Let's get innovative and differentiate yourselves from the competition. Compared to the tired old stuff Lifetime uses, Crunch's equipment was revolutionary. To compare, I did a job in Florida and got a two-month membership at Crunch Fitness and absolutely loved the equipment. A friendly suggestion would be to get some more advanced equipment in the fixed machines. I travel, and there just aren't enough locations nationally to consider a premium membership. I'd prefer an option to pay for only what I use (weight room only) that would lower my price, and I'd like to see more locations to bolster membership reciprocity in other cities. My only real issue is more with Lifetime's pricing. The staff in this location is pretty awesome, very friendly, and welcoming. I'm not a fan of all the group activities taking up a 1/4th of the weight area, but it fits a certain niche'. They've improved in recent years on their upkeep and maintenance and seem to be working hard to keep the aesthetics current/fresh. I've been a member since this location opened, and I've been pretty happy for the most part. Anyway if anyone at Lifetime reads this please be sure to let her know! She knows all about anatomy and I feel as though I've almost got a medical overview of myself at the same time. Gales potential is unlimited and could easily own and run her own studio on her own. She loves what she does, she believes in it(and I learned she should,) and she just cares. Let's face it she could do her craft with a blind fold because she is that good but sometimes when someone is that good they also over time loose passion and this she has not my friend. This is because she truly cares about you and your individualized experience and goal. She was always on the go busy when I would see her about but somehow can make it feel like time stops just for you in the moment and in the session you share with her even though you know she has someone straight after you. I've seen her at the gym for years and never knew what she did exactly behind the scenes.a hidden little gem. I bumped into her off chance and showed interest in the program, she swapped info with me and got me in to show me the ropes and boy did she. I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves there, because Lifetime is really lucky to have her talent. Gale heads the Pilates program at Lifetime.
